As we look toward the new year and getting ready for it, we must balance our life. Now, I will talk about priorities later, today I want you to know that the proper balance brings more productivity. I want to talk to you about balance in three areas, What you say, What you do, and What you think. First, Let's talk about what you say. We have already discussed the power of what you say. You know that the words coming out of your mouth will direct and set guide posts for your life. Make sure you balance your words. Make sure that you are speaking more positive and affirming words. Secondly, Examine your thought life. Some people spend way too much time thinking about the wrong things. In times past, I have spent weeks and months thinking about things that have happened. I realized I was meditating on the problem or the hurt more than the answer. It may be about how you feel or what your checkbook is saying or something going on at work, school, or church. Make sure you are spending quality time meditating on the things that will produce the best results. Some things you can't change, so why spend your time thinking about it. And last, make sure you are balancing your time properly. If you don't control the activities of the day, they will control you. Decide what activities reward you the most. As they say, 20% of your work produces 80%of your productivity. So, make sure the 20% gets done first. Here are some activities to consider in your 20% list. Time with the Lord, time with your spouse, rest, fun activities, your calling or assignment from the Lord, your job (if different from your calling) character building, and relationship building. I am sure you can think of others, this just gets you started. If you think I'll never get that done much less the other 80%. Think about this. THe average American spends three months a year just watching Television. This is why it is so important to bring balance to your life.
I'm looking foward to being more productive in the new year like never before and I will step into more postive thoughts, affirming words, and activities that are rewarding. Pastor, thank you for sharing these words of wisdom.

Wonderful post Pastor thank you. I could take the rest of the page commenting you addressed so many good points. The one I will comment on is how correct you are as to the importance of balancing activities. We are asked many times how do we get the things done that we do and that is the key proper management and prioritizing and the rest goes into place. Spending enough time with the Lord is definately first if that is balanced properly everything else flows. And yes sentence number 2 is a ....

Priorities!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...who has time to make a list? haha how sad. Yep... I am doing a list and my first priorities are to reschedule my fasting time in each week. That is the only thing I have changed this past year, other than I need more prayer time. That is prob why 2009 was a really bad year for me. It was mega tough. However, I am believing that 2010 will be a big year...as I thank you for not only the reminder, but the encouragement, that I will succeed. I can't not!..look who is inside of me urging me forward!...and I will listen and heed.

I like what Pastor Creflo Dollar said about 7 years ago. It stuck in my heart and life. Change isn't change until YOU change. I have meditated on that and even had a sermon I gave at DCC about change. If i don't make a change in my mind, my heart won't follow and so my hands nor my feet can go anywhere...therefore putting me in a mud puddle spinning my wheels, looking at what's wrong with the present and what happened in the past. I have come to love change. I have had so much the last 9 years, that i just have to look up at my Daddy God and laugh, asking, what next?...knowing my time of peace and relaxation is near. Still, i ask for the God kind of change...BIG change. I have learned that if you ask, you'll get...and it isn't always fun nor easy, but always great and productive. He is faithful. Thanks for the great blogs. I will change TO and FOR Him!

Wow, the average person spends 3 months of the year watching TV? What would happen if we spent that same amount of time in the Word and prayer?
