During Healing School last Saturday night I was talking about the woman how touched the hem of Jesus' garment. I wanted to share that with you today.
Did you ever wonder why the woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of Jesus' garment?
Mark 5:25 - 36 tells us the story. This woman had an issue of blood and for twelve years, she had suffered alot and spent all that she had, but was not any better. She heard about Jesus and came to Him and touched the hem of his garment. There are three basic reasons she touched the hem of his garment.
1. The word for hem is actually the word for fringes. To the Jew this is important because the men had tassels attached to the fringes on four corners of the garment. The tassels were tied with 613 knots. This is how many laws the Jews have. The law of God is the Word of God. When the woman was touching the hem of his garment, she was touching the Word.
2. The tassels represent authority. The tassel had a blue tread in it. Blue dye was very expensive,so it showed status. As time went on the religious leaders of the day expanded their tassels to show their authority. When the woman touched Jesus' hem, she was saying Jesus has authority over sickness and come in contact with that authority.
3. Malachi 4:2 says "the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in His wings". The word wings in the Hebrew is actually fringes. The woman was being obedient to the word and by faith touching the place of healing.
This story ends with Jesus saying to the woman,"Daughter thy faith has made the well, go in peace and be whole. Her faith in Jesus (the Word) got her healed and walking in peace will keep her healed.
The same is true for you.If you will believe the word and the authority of the Word, and reach out by faith and receive the word, you will be healed.
